Drunk driver drowns AlamFlora workers in remand

KUANTAN - A fisherman who was driving against a stream was believed to be intoxicated, causing the death of a Nature Flora employee last night for four days starting today.

The 42-year-old man was remanded in custody until May 29 by Magistrate Najwa Hashim to allow further investigation.

The fisherman wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts were seen arriving at the Kuantan Court Complex at about 11am.

In the incident at Kuantan Pintas Road at about 9.20pm last night, victim Irwan Herman Kamarudin, 41, died at the scene of a head and chest injury after his Toyota Yaris driven by a fish-car driver who was driving a Toyota C. -HRs against current and dangerous conditions.

The fisherman also suffered minor injuries to his leg and was taken to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) here for examination before being heard.

The victim's body was sent to HTAA for autopsy to be performed after completion of the coronovirus test (Covid-19).

The case is being investigated under Section 44 (1) (b) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
